Jordy

Jordy is a spunky and affectionate 1 ½ year old boy who loves his people. He knows the commands sit, down, wait, stay, watch me, leave-it, and paw/shake. He loves his squeaky toys and will bring them to you  proudly, to share and play.

Jordy’s house manners are excellent. He has been very polite with accepting treats, and he sits politely waiting for his food bowl. He absolutely loves going for car trips.

We do not know what Jordy’s experiences have been, in the past, since he was found as a stray and he was on his own for awhile, but the good thing is that he seems eager to trust people, and with loving management and patience, he will be able to gain more and more trust.

A home with training experience is a must, for Jordy, since he will bond hard and may become guarded around his owners. He will need a handler who is consistent, to work on his confidence, and willing to give him time to gain trust and confidence before rushing him into a busy lifestyle. A home without kids is best or older, dog savvy, kids may work.

With an experienced handler, who is patient and can understand that Jordy needs calm consistent training, Jordy will be a wonderful addition to the right family. Jordy responds really well to a lot of praise, but you must be consistent.

Jordy would love to have a doggy buddy in his forever home, but the dog buddy should be a well balanced dog. Jordy had some internal issues when he was neutered, and he is a bit guarded about his back end if dogs want to smell him. We have been working at this a lot and he has improved a lot, but will need a lot of controlled socialization to maintain his comfort level with dogs he doesn’t know. Once he gets to know a dog, they are buddies for life.

He is being fostered with 6-year-old female GSD who is helping to teach him that new people are wonderful. When Jordy is out and about with his foster sister, he is cool as can be. When he is walked alone, he takes on a more defensive role. So, he seems to gain confidence that people are his friends, from being with his foster sister. He also has spent some time with other dogs at a day care facility and has met a BFF there as well. Jordy has some food-guarding issues with other dogs. It is managed by being careful of food resources, but is something to be always aware of.

Jordy is truly a diamond in the rough GSD, and is shining more and more every day. Please apply today for this wonderfully amazing dog.
