Bear is a fun-loving German Shepherd who is about 5 years old.  This is what my foster mom was told about me when I was surrendered.  I am about 5 years old, neutered,  UTD on my vaccines,  have a micro chip and I lived with kids.  But there is so much more about me she didn’t know but it didn’t take her long to get a read on me.  All she had to do was let me run around with her great girl dog and watch me come alive.  She could tell right away that I love life and would do great with a large yard and another friend to run and play with.  She called me and I came flying back to her wagging my tail.  I  knew I had it made here.  I love to play with tennis balls and sit, and give her my paw for a treat. If she says go lay down I do it.  I go in my crate when she asks me to and do not mind being in it.  I have the run of the house and let her know when I have to go out side by running around in circles but not biting my tail.  When I see her grandkids coming I get excited.  I would probably knock little kids down just because I am so big but I do not have a mean bone in my body.  I am afraid of the other big dog on the farm and just sit on the porch when he comes around.  It is like I am on vacation!  So if you are looking for a dog that is wanting to be around you and will lay by your feet when you sit down I am your kind of dog.  Fill out an application and come and meet me.  I know you will like me right away because everyone I meet thinks I am great.

Zeppy (Zep) is a wonderful German Shepherd mix (possibly with husky or malamute) who is a truly amazing dog. It is heart breaking to have to re-home him but his owners have recently had a premature needy baby. Zep is bummed having to deal with the divided attention. Zep is great with all people and animals; men, women, kids, cats (he does not chase them at all) dogs and horses. He bonds quickly to humans.

Zep is 7 years old, neutered and current on all his vaccinations. He knows all his basic commands and more. He is a quick learner and is very eager to please. He focuses intently on humans and really wants to do what you want. He is extremely affectionate, cuddles readily and loves to give kisses. Zep loves to ride in the car and help with errands. He enjoys walks, swimming, playing chase, playing with other dogs and sitting outside in nice weather.

Rommel (now known as Barron) has been adopted!

Dakota is a young pure white German Shepherd, estimated to be about a year old.  He was surrendered by his owner who did not have time for him.  Dakota is a real lover and thrives on attention and affection.

Dakota knows how to sit and is eager to learn.  He is very playful, likes to play fetch and play with stuffed toys.  He is a really happy dog who loves to play with his foster family – all of them.  Dakota does not like being crated, but doesn’t  need to be as he has been a good boy in the house while alone.   He will chew on rawhide once in a while but does not seem to be a big chewer.

He requires daily exercise so someone who is committed to walking him or taking him to the dog park is a requirement for this special boy.  He is friendly to all dogs but does display some dominant postures.  He is easily corrected though.   He walks well on leash unless he sees something he wants to check out.  But Dakota only wants to be by his person so at his foster home he does not have to be leashed.   He will bond very strongly to one person who shows him affection.  He will require a patient person to help him learn basic commands.  He is a really good boy in the house and is house trained.

Lexi is an extremely happy and darling (approximately) 1 yr old, crate trained, housebroken, UTD on all vaccines, and on Heartguard. She will also be microchipped by adoption time. She is thin at 62lbs and once up to weight will probably weigh in the 70lb range.

Lexi is looking for a forever home where she can become a confident, loving companion. She would love to find a home where she is not left alone a lot. She thinks a fenced area to romp in and play her favorite game of ball with some kids would be wonderful. Lexi also walks nicely on leash. She is currently fostered on a farm and has two other GSDs to play with. They go on long off leash walks/runs to chase squirrels and birds. Her favorite past time is jumping high into the air after snowballs and curling up next to her foster family in the evenings.  Lexi loves to be with her people and never strays far. Always checking to make sure you didn’t sneak away.

Lexi does not appear to have had any formal training and would benefit from some. She does know how to sit and is working on some other basic commands. She is very smart, learns quickly,  and wants to please. She is currently working on not jumping up on the counters which so far is the only thing that needs to be corrected.

Lexi is a delight to have around and has not taken anything that is not hers. She has free run of the house and prefers to stay close to her family curling up at their feet or, if allowed, next to them on the sofa. She gets along with other dogs and likes kids (the more petting and playing the better).  Cats probably would not be good. She was cat tested and was not bothered by it… until it ran.  She simply couldn’t contain herself and chased after it.

GSRAW is sad to report that Simon crossed over the bridge 2/5/12 due to bloat. Simon was much loved in his foster home, and had many fun experiences such as meeting the public at  Pet Expo. His time was too short with us, and he will be greatly missed.

Hello, my name is Justice. I’m a German shepherd mix who is 13 years old. I’m house trained and love to be with a family with kids. I’m looking for a warm, loving home. Here is my story: My mom rescued me in Detroit six years ago after reading about me on a website. I had heart worms and didn’t have a home. My adopting family took me in and has since been dealing with my anxieties caused by thunderstorms and being home alone.

They have two other dogs and a cat in their home as well but they also have a baby and a small girl. I don’t want to hurt them with my anxiety. If somebody is willing to take me in, my family would like to come check your home out as they want to feel comfortable about giving me away. I belong to a boy but he understands the circumstances. My family would like to help with food, bedding and anything else I need. They don’t just want to drop me off and say their final goodbyes. My family loves their animals but they have become overwhelmed financially and physically. Please contact my owners if you want me. My family says: “We just want the best for our Justice.”
